SmartReports - 2D Floor Plan Images
⚠️ Requires Tables ≥ 2022.1.16
1. The two image types
Tables currently supports two types of floor plan images for SmartReports:
Element image: The report element (here a room) is highlighted in colour in its immediate context.
Overview image: Shows the position of the element in the overall floor plan.
| Image type | Description |
|---|---|
| Element image in floor plan | Shows the element highlighted in colour in its immediate context (with BoundingBox offset) |
| Overview image in floor plan | Shows the element position in the overall floor plan / defined crop region |
2. Adding a floor plan image
Add floor plan images via Project / Element Info. Under Select available fields from choose Element and filter for floor / grund:
After filtering for grund, the feature parameters Elementbild im Grundriss and Uebersichtsbild im Grundriss appear for selection.
3. Scaling the dummy image
Tables inserts a dummy image into the template. You can scale it freely in height and width. Tables uses the set height to scale the real image proportionally without distortion:
Dummy images in the template: left element image, right overview image. The set height of the dummy image determines the output size.
The dummy images can be freely resized in height and width. The real image is scaled proportionally to the set height.
4. Result in the finished report
Finished report page: left element image with room highlighted in red, right overview image showing the position in the overall floor plan.
5. Configuring settings
The properties of the temporarily generated floor plans can be configured via the Tables Settings dialog. These settings are saved directly in the Excel workbook:
Under Tables Settings - Revit: configure the view template for the floor plan, BoundingBox offset (mm), filled region type (marker colour), and crop region (overview image only).
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| View template | Which Revit view template is used for the temporary floor plans |
| BoundingBox / Offset | Distance around the element in mm (element image only) |
| Filled region type | Revit region type used to highlight the element in colour |
| Crop region | Revit view region for the overall floor plan (overview image only) |
Performance note
Analysing and generating floor plan preview images currently takes approx. 1-5 seconds per image, depending on the view template. Planworks is working to optimise this.
