Kopnyc – Area Calculation: Settings & Parameters
In this article
1 Apartment Parameters
Define which Revit parameters Kopnyc uses to group and calculate rooms. Required fields are marked with *.
Parameter for apartment grouping Text
The parameter used to group rooms into an "apartment".
Parameter for rounded room area AArea
The parameter where the rounded area value of each room is stored.
Area: Number of digits
Number of decimal places used when rounding room areas.
Parameter for gross apartment area CArea
The parameter where the calculated gross area (including ancillary rooms) of the apartment is stored.
Parameter for apartment net area EArea
The parameter where the calculated net living area (excluding ancillary rooms) is stored.
Uniqueness parameter (yes/no) Yes/No
The parameter used to filter exactly one room per apartment (e.g. for apartment-level schedules).
2 Area Calculation Settings
Configure how Kopnyc identifies ancillary rooms, sums areas and organises room order in floor plans.
Parameter to use to set the room as an auxiliary area Text
The parameter Kopnyc uses to identify ancillary rooms (e.g. "Loggia", "Terrasse", "Balcon"). The "Case sensitive" option controls whether values are compared with case sensitivity.
Initialization NEW
Click "Initialization" to automatically load the list of room categories from the project. Only after this can values and their order be defined.
Parameter for auxiliary area inclusion Yes/No
The parameter set to "Yes" when a room is identified as an ancillary room.
Parameter for apartment auxiliary area F Area
The parameter where the sum of all rounded ancillary room areas is stored.
Parameter to sort the rooms Integer
The parameter storing the room's sort position in floor plan schedules. Room categories can be dragged into the desired order in the table – the suffix value is assigned automatically.
Use room numbering
Activates automatic room numbering based on the suffix value.
Room numbering pattern NEW
Create a numbering scheme using Revit parameters. A dedicated dialog opens where parameters are inserted by double-click. A live preview shows the result immediately.
Available numbering methods:
-
BySuffix– Numbering based on the manually entered suffix value -
ByFonction– Numbering based on room function (alphabetical) -
ByArea– Numbering based on room area (ascending)
Room number parameter Text
The parameter where the generated room label (according to the numbering template) is stored.
3 Social Projects Area Calculation
Enables and configures area calculation with reductions for social housing projects.
Use social housing projects area calculation
Activates the entire social housing area calculation.
Parameter for room factored auxiliary area B Area
The parameter where the reduced (discounted) area of each individual ancillary room is stored.
Parameter for apartment factored auxiliary area G Area
The parameter where the sum of all reduced ancillary room areas for an apartment is stored.
Parameter for apartment factored gross area D Area
The parameter where the total social area (including all reductions) for an apartment is stored.
Area calculation rules NEW
Table for defining reduction and cap rules per ancillary room category. For each category you can specify:
- % to include – Percentage of the ancillary room area to be counted
- m² max – Maximum area in m² that can be counted
Example: Balcon → 50% included, maximum 9 m²
4 Apartment Naming
Kopnyc automatically calculates the apartment type (e.g. Studio, T2, T3, Duplex) from room data and writes it to Revit parameters. This section was previously called "Typology" and has been significantly redesigned in the current version.
Apartment type name Text
The parameter where the calculated apartment type name is stored (e.g. "Appartement de 3 pièces").
Apartment type code Text
The parameter where the calculated apartment type code is stored (e.g. "T3").
Analyze
Generates the list of all possible room categories for the typology calculation. Click this button before defining values.
Count table NEW
Table listing all room functions. For each row you can define whether the room type is included in the typology calculation (Include) and what count value it receives (Count). Irrelevant rooms (e.g. Balcon) are excluded.
Naming table NEW
Table mapping apartment type names and codes to calculated count totals. New rows can be added by clicking "Click here to add a new row".
Prefix / Suffix for duplex apartments
Define prefix and suffix automatically appended to the type name
and code when an apartment is identified as a duplex.
Example: Type name "(Duplex)", type code "(D)"
