What Rubia does, how the main window is laid out and which functions you need for everyday work.

What does Rubia do?
Rubia creates floors, ceilings and wall finishes along the room boundary. You define which build-up goes into each room. Rubia creates the elements, links each element to its room and later detects when the room or the element has changed. Multi-layer build-ups are created as separate elements per layer.
Starting Rubia
Rubia sits in the Revit ribbon with the b.i.m.m Tools. The Rubia button opens the main window “Rubia by Planworks”.
Next to it you'll find commands such as All Floors and Ceilings, which update the outlines of elements that have already been created without opening the main window. When you need them is explained in Status and keeping things up to date.

The main window

Main window with numbers 1 to 8 on: Rooms group, tabs, room list, Layers › Edit, Multi-Edit, Preview, Check, Apply group
| No. | Element | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Load rooms All · In Current View · Selected |
Defines which rooms are in the list: all, only those in the active view, or those selected in Revit. |
| 2 | Tabs Floors · Ceilings · Walls |
Each tab has its own room list with matching columns. Loaded rooms stay when you switch tabs. |
| 3 | Room list | One row per room. You pick build-up, reference level and offsets directly in the cells. The Status column shows whether room and elements match. Use the storey filter above it and the column headers to narrow the list. |
| 4 | Layers › Edit | Opens the finishing structures (build-ups) of the active tab. This is where you create floor, ceiling and wall build-ups. |
| 5 | Preview | Shows the outline of the selected room with the planned build-up before anything happens in the model. |
| 6 | Check | Compares rooms and existing elements and updates the status column. |
| 7 | Apply All · Filtered · Selected |
Creates or updates the elements in the model for all, the filtered or the selected rooms. |
Good to know
Only the buttons under 7 change the model. Assignments in the room list are safe to try out.
More functions
Under Miscellaneous in the ribbon you'll find what you don't need on every project:
- Import and export: write finishing structures to a file and read them into another project. See Creating and managing finishing structures.
- Parameter mapping: rules that make Rubia write values such as the room number into floors and ceilings automatically, or the other way round. See Parameter mapping.
- Settings: where the floor ends at doors, which rooms are skipped, how warnings are handled, and logs. See Settings.
- Help and Info: opens this help, or shows version, license and available updates. See FAQ and troubleshooting.
There are also a few helpers for the room list: All / None selects all or no rooms, Show in Model zooms to the selected room in Revit, and under Layout you show or hide columns or reset the view.
Where to go next
In First steps you'll create your first floor and ceiling.
