Load rooms, assign build-ups and create the elements in the model.
In this article
1. Load rooms
In the Rooms group you decide which rooms you want to work with:
- All: all rooms in the project
- In Current View: only the rooms visible in the active Revit view
- Selected: only the rooms you selected in Revit beforehand
Tip
On larger projects it's easier to work one storey at a time: open the floor plan and use In Current View.
2. Assign build-ups
Click the relevant cell in the room list and pick a value from the drop-down.
Floors
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Floor Type | The structure for this room. <No Finishing Floor> means no floor. |
| Floor Reference Level | The level the floor is based on. |
| Floor Offset | Height offset from the reference level. |
| Door Profile | On = the floor runs into door openings. Off = it stops at the room boundary. |
| Lateral offset | Moves the floor edge relative to the room boundary. |
Ceilings
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ceiling Type | The ceiling structure. <No Finishing Ceiling> means no ceiling. |
| Ceiling Reference Level | The level the ceiling is based on. |
| Height offset from level | How high the ceiling sits above the reference level. |
| Lateral offset | Moves the ceiling edge relative to the room boundary. |
Walls
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Wall Type | The wall finish, e.g. plaster or tiles. <No Finishing Wall> means no finish. |
| Bottom Level / Bottom Offset | Where the wall finish starts at the bottom. |
| Upper Limit / Top Offset | Where the wall finish ends at the top. |
Editing many rooms at once
If many rooms get the same build-up, e.g. all offices on a storey, use Multi-Edit:
-
Select rooms
Select all rooms you want to change in the list (Ctrl/Shift + click).
-
Open Multi-Edit
Click Multi-Edit. At the top you'll see how many rooms are selected.
-
Set values
On the Floor and Ceiling tabs, set type, reference level, offset, door profile and lateral offset. Fields showing
<varies>have different values in the selected rooms. If you don't touch them, each room keeps its own value. -
Confirm
Click OK to apply the values to all selected rooms.
3. Preview & apply
Up to this point nothing has changed in the model. Rubia only creates elements when you apply.
-
Check the preview
Check the room in the Preview.
-
Choose how to apply
In the Apply group you have three options:
- All: all rooms in the list
- Filtered: only the rooms shown by the current filter
- Selected: only the selected rooms
-
Wait
Rubia calculates the profiles, creates the elements and runs the parameter mapping if one is set up. With many rooms this can take a while; progress is shown.
-
Read the report
Afterwards Rubia shows a report: what was created, edited or deleted, and any warnings.
Good to know
Rubia remembers which elements belong to which room. If you apply again later, existing elements are updated instead of being created twice.
Heads up
In workshared projects, Rubia skips rooms you can't currently edit. They get the status “Not in the workset”.
